4、 Application field
Dimethyl mixed dibasic acid, due to its good performance, is generally used in the middle and high-end fields of coatings, casting adhesives, inks, pigments, personal care, pharmaceutical intermediates, plasticizers, polyols, cleaning agents, paint removers, etc. At present, it is mainly used in coatings, casting adhesives, inks, etc.
Dimethyl mixed dibasic acid has high boiling point, is not easy to volatilize at room temperature, and its volatilization speed increases with the increase of temperature. It can replace traditional solvents such as isoflurone, propylene glycol ether and cyclohexanone. It is an excellent solvent for coil steel coatings, packaging coatings, automotive topcoats, enamelled wire coatings, etc., and it is also a cleaning agent for a variety of substrates.
5、 Market situation
Dimethyl mixed dibasic acid was researched and developed by DuPont Company in the mid 1970s, and was successfully applied in the paint field.
The consumption of dimethyl mixed dicarboxylic acid in China increased from 30800 tons in 2012 to 99000 tons in 2017, of which 80% was in the paint field, 10% in the casting binder field, 7% in the ink field and 3% in other fields.
China is the largest paint producer in the world. In 2018, the annual paint output exceeded 22 million tons, and the annual average growth rate is expected to be about 8% by 2025. The continuous development of the paint industry in China provides sufficient market space for the application of mixed dibasic acid dimethyl ester.
In 2017, Europe, North America, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia and other countries and regions were the main consumers of mixed dibasic acid dimethyl ester abroad, with a consumption of 147000 tons. With the rapid growth of downstream applications, the demand for products continues to grow. It is estimated that the average annual growth rate will remain 10% - 12% from 2020 to 2022; From 2018 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of foreign mixed dimethyl dicarboxylic acid consumption will remain 5% - 6%; The growth rate of domestic exports will remain above 15% from 2018 to 2022.
